Vaulto is made for one purpose: protecting your own privacy and safety — your photos, documents and notes — from loss, theft, snooping, and people who try to force you to unlock your phone or computer.
It is not made or offered to help anyone break the law. You may not use Vaulto to hide or destroy evidence, to keep anything from a lawful investigation or court order, or to store illegal content. Vaulto uses standard encryption, like the protection built into phones, computers and messaging apps; encrypting your own data is legal in most countries, and you're responsible for using Vaulto within the laws where you live.
These terms are a binding agreement between you and Samneon Ltd, which makes Vaulto (“Vaulto,” “we,” “us”). By using the app or buying a subscription, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use Vaulto.
Vaulto encrypts and stores your photos, videos, documents, notes and contacts on your devices and, if you turn it on, keeps an encrypted copy in your account so you can restore it on another device. Encryption happens on your device with a key derived from your password, so only you can decrypt your data. By default, nothing leaves your device. Vaulto is available for iPhone, iPad and Mac, with Android and Windows to follow; some features exist only on some platforms (for example, the desktop security tools are Mac and desktop only), and the plans reflect that.
You must be old enough to form a binding contract in your country to use Vaulto. Vaulto is not intended for children.
We do not store your vault password and cannot reset or recover it. If you lose your password, your encrypted data cannot be recovered by anyone, including us. This is by design. Keep your password somewhere safe. Vaulto's encrypted cloud backup protects you against a lost or broken device — it cannot protect you against a lost password, because the backup is encrypted with that password too.
Vaulto lets you keep a separate decoy space, set an optional duress password, and choose what happens after a number of wrong password attempts that you set: log out, erase the vault on that device, or — if you deliberately arm it with your real password — erase your cloud copy as well. The “erase everywhere” option is designed to complete even if the device was offline when it was triggered. These are tools for your own lawful privacy and safety. You choose whether and how to use them, and you're responsible for that choice — including any data cleared by an erase you configured, whether it was triggered by you, by someone else guessing at your device, or by a mistyped password.
On Mac, Vaulto includes tools that act on your own computer and devices: Privacy Guard, Security Check, Secure Delete, App Manager, Phone Reset, and the encrypted Vault Disk with sealed apps. Use them only on computers, devices, and apps you own or are authorised to manage. Removing an app's data, resetting a phone, or moving an app into the Vault Disk is permanent or disruptive by nature; you're responsible for choosing what to remove, seal, or erase, and for keeping backups first. Scans are best-effort and do not guarantee that a device is free of monitoring software.
You agree to use Vaulto lawfully and only for data you have the right to store. Vaulto is made to protect people from theft, snooping and coercion by others — the decoy and duress passwords are for moments like a robbery or an abusive partner, not for misleading a lawful request. You may not use Vaulto to store or distribute content that is illegal where you live, to infringe others' rights, to hide or destroy evidence or conceal it from a lawful process, or to interfere with the security or integrity of the service.
Vaulto is a private space that only you can open. By design, we cannot see what you keep in it, monitor how you use it, or control what you do with it — that responsibility is entirely yours. We provide Vaulto for lawful, personal privacy and trust you to use it that way. We are not responsible or liable for how you choose to use the app or for any content you store, and any use in breach of these terms or of the law is solely at your own risk.
Because a free trial is offered, refunds are generally not provided after a plan begins, except where required by law or by the applicable app store's policy. Contact us and we'll do our best to help.
If you enable cloud backup, we store only encrypted data for you, up to your plan's storage limit. If your subscription ends, your encrypted backup stays where it is and is available again the moment you resubscribe. We would only ever remove it after a long period of inactivity, and we would email you first. Your on-device copy is unaffected.
Vaulto is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind to the extent permitted by law. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for loss of data resulting from a forgotten password, an intentional or configured erase, a lost or stolen device, a scan that missed something, or circumstances outside our control, nor for any indirect or consequential damages. Keep your own backups of anything important.
You can stop using Vaulto and delete your data at any time from inside the app, and delete your account there too (Cloud Sync → Delete Account). Deleting your account doesn't cancel a subscription bought through the App Store or Google Play — cancel it in your store account so it doesn't renew. We may suspend or end access for serious or repeated breaches of these terms, or where required by law.
These terms are governed by the laws of the country where Samneon Ltd is registered, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The consumer-protection laws of the country you live in still apply to you where they can't be set aside. For the operator's legal name and address, write to support@vaulto-locker.com.
We may update these terms; material changes will be posted here with a new date. Continuing to use Vaulto after a change means you accept it.
